The Florida Everglades
 
 
  I've been lucky enough to visit the Florida Everglades many times, especially as a child, since I lived right on the edge of its borders. It contains the largest tropical rainforest in the USA, and is a wonderful break from the New England winter. There are many excellent long-distance canoe trails that traverse the park. Try doing a multi-day trip via canoe or kayak, camping on the "chickies" (raised shelters) out in the middle of nowhere! It is an experience you'll never forget!!!

I did some camping on islands out in the everglades with folks from the EVERGLADES HOSTEL

The four of us met the day before this trip, and had an awesome three days out in the backcountry
